Number Formatter

Format numbers in different ways (currency, scientific, thousands separator)

What does this tool do?

The Number Formatter displays any number as a decimal, currency, percentage, or measurement unit, applying the thousands separators and decimal marks of the country layout you pick. It is built for developers, translators, and international content creators who want to see the same number side by side across nine different locales.

How to use it

  1. Enter your values into the fields.
  2. The result is calculated instantly.
  3. Read or copy the result.

How cross-locale formatting works

The tool uses your browser's built-in Intl.NumberFormat engine, so the value 1234567.89 appears as 1,234,567.89 in the US, 1.234.567,89 in Germany, and 12,34,567.89 in India. Enter a single number and instantly compare how all nine locales render it. This is invaluable for confirming that an interface looks correct across markets or for converting a spreadsheet value into another region's convention, and every result copies with a single click.

Currency, percent, and unit modes

Beyond plain decimals, three specialised formats are offered. Currency mode shows eight currencies such as USD, EUR, GBP, and TRY with the right symbol and placement. Percent mode divides your input by 100 and adds a percent sign, so typing 50 yields 50%. Unit mode spells out measurements like kilometre, gram, litre, or megabyte with the full name in your chosen language. You can set the number of decimal places anywhere from 0 to 10.

Frequently asked questions

Why does 1234.89 look different in each country?

Because the thousands separator and decimal mark differ by country. Germany uses a comma for decimals and a period for thousands, while the US does the opposite. The tool applies these rules automatically for each locale.

Why does typing 50 in percent mode give 50%?

Percent formatting treats the value as a percentage and divides it by 100 when displaying. So an input of 50 means 50%. If you have the decimal 0.5, simply enter 50 to get the same result.

Why is the Indian grouping different?

India uses the lakh/crore system, where digits are grouped in pairs after the first group, for example 12,34,567. The tool reproduces this regional grouping correctly rather than using uniform three-digit groups.
