What does this tool do?

Three shuffle modes
You choose between three modes. 'Shuffle lines' treats each line as a whole unit and randomises their order, ideal for name lists or sets of options. 'Shuffle words' splits the text on whitespace and reorders the words. 'Shuffle characters' rearranges individual letters, useful for scrambling a word into an unreadable form. Each time you press the Shuffle button, a fresh random arrangement is produced, so you can keep clicking until you get an order you like.
Fair, genuine randomness
The tool uses the Fisher-Yates algorithm, a proven and unbiased shuffling method that makes every possible ordering equally likely. This means the result is truly random and free of an easily guessed, fake pattern. Pressing the button repeatedly with the same input gives a different arrangement every time, which makes it reliable for prize draws, random sampling and any task where fairness matters.

Does word mode preserve line breaks?
No. Word mode splits the entire text on whitespace and reorders the words as a single stream regardless of line endings, then joins the result with single spaces.
Do I get the same result on every click?
No, each 'Shuffle' click produces a fresh random order. If you like a particular arrangement, copy it straight away with the copy button to keep it.
Does character mode shuffle spaces too?
Yes. Character mode breaks the text into every individual character; spaces and line breaks count as characters as well and are redistributed along with the rest.
