How the Pomodoro technique works
The classic cycle is 25 minutes of uninterrupted focus followed by a 5-minute short break. After you complete four focus blocks, the timer automatically rolls into a 15-minute long break. This rhythm gives your brain regular recovery pauses, reducing mental fatigue and keeping your output steady throughout the day. You can also switch manually between Focus, Short Break, and Long Break using the tabs at the top.

Use the Duration Settings panel to set focus, short break, and long break lengths anywhere from 1 to 60 minutes. The tool counts completed pomodoros, total sessions, and your progress toward a daily goal of eight. A gentle audio chime signals the end of each block, and the session history lists your recent sessions with timestamps so you can see exactly how much of your day was spent in deep focus.
