What does this tool do?
The Anagram Checker instantly tells you whether two pieces of text are anagrams of each other, meaning they contain exactly the same letters rearranged. It is a fast, clear verification tool for word-game fans, puzzle solvers, and language learners.
How to use it
- Paste your text into the input area.
- Adjust the options to fit your needs.
- Copy the processed text.
How it works
The tool lowercases both texts, sorts their letters alphabetically, and compares the two strings. For example, 'listen' and 'silent' both sort to 'eilnst', so they are confirmed as anagrams. The result box shows a green check or a red cross along with the sorted letter strings, so you can see exactly why the two inputs match or fail to match.
The ignore-spaces option
By default spaces are ignored, so multi-word phrases like 'dormitory' and 'dirty room' are still recognised as anagrams. Turn the option off and spaces count as characters, making the comparison stricter. Punctuation and letter case never affect the outcome, since both texts are reduced to lowercase letters before they are compared side by side.
Frequently asked questions
Does letter case matter?
No. Both texts are converted to lowercase before comparison, so 'Listen' and 'silent' are still counted as anagrams.
What does the ignore-spaces option do?
When on, spaces are skipped so multi-word phrases like 'dirty room' can match 'dormitory'. When off, spaces are included in the comparison.
Can I check numbers or punctuation?
Yes, every character is sorted and compared like a letter; punctuation is not stripped out, so both texts must contain it identically for a meaningful match.
